The Becker House

Offered at $205,000

The Becker House is located in Hillsdale, NY. The property contains a barn and a single dwelling, with clapboard siding, asphalt shingle roof and stone foundation. It was constructed by Peter J. Becker, a local carpenter, between 1832 and 1842.

The post and beam, wood frame dwelling displays features and decoration of the Greek Revival Style.

The main part of the house contains a kitchen, dining room, and living room on the first floor. It contains three bedrooms and a full bath on the second floor. Also on the first floor is a separate apartment with its own front and rear entrances, and one central room with a woodstove, a small kitchen, two small bedrooms and an addition which could become a second bathroom.

The House has the following utilities: a well with electric pump, a septic system, a forced air oil fired furnace, an electric hot water heater and a propane gas stove.

The Becker House is located on a 2/3 acre parcel at the eastern limits of the hamlet of Hillsdale. In 2010 the Becker House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

During 2011 the interior and exterior were renovated to restore original 19th century details which were covered or removed during the 20th century.

This unique historical property is close to Tanglewood and all the other cultural attractions in the Berkshires, and only a few minute from the Catamount ski and recreational area and the town park. The Becker House is conveniently located an hour from Albany and Hartford, two hours from New York City and Boston and 5 hours from Montreal.
